Caledonian MacBrayne run a daily service from Uig in Skye to Lochmaddy in North Uist, and from Oban and Barra to Lochboisdale in South Uist.
Directions from ferry terminals:
Lochmaddy (13 miles) - As you come out of Lochmaddy take the A867 south towards Clachan (8 miles) then turn left on to the A865 for 5 miles. Once you cross over a series of major causeways and reach the island of Grimsay turn left at the first junction to the circular road round the island. Taigh Mairi is 1st on the right at the north end of the Grimsay circular road.
Lochboisdale (28 miles) - Take the A865 north past Daliburgh for 28 miles. On leaving the island of Benbecula you cross over a series of major causeways and reach the island of Grimsay. Turn right at the second junction to the circular road round the island. Taigh Mairi is 1st on your right at the north end of the Grimsay circular road.
Flights The local airport is located on Benbecula, approximately 5 miles from Taigh Mairi. Services are provided by:
Flybe flights from Glasgow and Barra.
Highland Airways flights from Inverness and Stornoway.
Car Hire
A number of local car hire companies are available and some are able to deliver a car to the airport or ferry terminals if required.
